Macro Photos from Home

Finally...some real photos taken by the Voigtlander 125mm f/2.5 Lanthar Macro! This is a little-known lens with an all-metal build and buttery-smooth focus action. It is purely a manual focus lens, but in the Canon EF mount it actually allows for full aperture TTL metering, electronic aperture control (the aperture can be controlled by the camera instead of an aperture ring on the lens) and it also has focus confirmation!

In essence, this Voigtlander lens works just like any modern EF-mount would, except that it is manual focus only. In good hands or under controlled conditions the photos from this lens have blistery-sharp detail and creamy bokeh. Macro is a genre that has a steep learning curve, and I can only hope to get better at it.

Meanwhile, here's a handful of those photos taken in my garden:

What a great tutorial, it has a mix of everything with some great examples. Not too technical either which is excellent.

Thanks, Conor. Glad you found it useful to you. It's been quite long in the making and the first version wasn't quite as detailed. I hope to have the opportunity to update this with better examples as I go along.

Thank you, Anna. It's good that the tutorial was helpful.

Photography is a life-long learning process and that's perhaps the most challenging part of it all.

I always tell myself that there is room for improvement.
